"Borjana Mrđa u video radu “Ustoličenje” izvodi skidanje šminke u veoma dugom vremenskom periodu, čime samu radnju prezentira kao ritual doveden do granice apsurda. Zanimaju me specifičnosti samog uzorka ponašanja kojima nastaju različiti diskursi subjekta i svijeta koji ga okružuje.

"The intention of this exhibition is to present the analysis and the cogitation of the visual speech and individual poetics in the recent works of the female artists of the younger generation, coming from Balkans, more specifically from Bosnia and Herzegovina(Borjana Mrdja), Macedonia (Neda Firfova and Dragana Zarevska) and Serbia (Ana Krstić and Sanja Latinović), without necessarily introducing feminist provenance and imposing the awareness of femininity.

The title of the exhibition is closely related with the field of literature, but due to the general artistic syncretism in recent times and the instability of the categories of the genders, the mixmedia can also be used in the reading of the characteristics in all the artistic tendencies, including the field of visual arts. The poststructuralism and the postmodernism contributed to the visibility of such tendencies/critical potentials, in whose foundation lie the contemplation of the construction of the gender."

"Borjana Mrdja in the video installation “Enthronement” performs the makeup removal, in a very long period of time, presenting such action as a ritual, brought to the limit of absurdity. However, to such kind of “writing”, that is conducted in order to create the desired macro-image, Borjana juxtaposes the drawings “Variable body”, in which she “inscribes” the contaminations from the outer world. In fact, these visual sketches/elaborations are a platform for the cogitation of latent micro-mechanisms. She interprets an authentic human body as a ‘tabula rasa’, upon which are impressed the templates, the time and the environment from which it originates (i.e. the social status, as well as the political and sociological phenomena). “How do the instantaneous media/spacial specifics, in which my body is located, influence the segmentation of the subjective and objective images of the body? I am interested in specifics of the sample behavior with which there develop different discourses of the subject and of the world that surrounds it. How does my body revolts against the system, how does it accept it, or what is the instantaneous position of my body like in the center of the space usurped by the media?”
